To my knowledge, no one, anywhere in the world, has ever used the word “sexy” to describe Made to Stick. I am pleased to announce, though, that our innovative publisher in Taiwan, Locus Publishing, has broken the sexy barrier. The cover of the book shows a strip of tape somewhere that you wouldn’t expect. Check it out here (it’s mostly work-safe).
Coming soon: An apology letter to the frustrated men of Taiwan who buy the book expecting something a little more, er, titillating. (Few things are more libido-killing, I’d wager, than a good Southwest Airlines anecdote.)
What a hoot! But please do tell: Has your Taiwan publisher provided ANY idea about how they came to select that cover design? It’s just sort of mind blowing…
Hi Dan – Interesting … I’m not familiar with the Taiwanese culture and would be curious like Tammy pointed out above, why your Taiwan Publisher went with a sexy cover? I just finished reading your book (US version) and I can see how this fit’s the 2nd quality: “unexpectedness” — but I feel the sexier cover falls short on relevancy and credibility.
Do you believe the sexy cover communicates the key points in your book? Quite curious to hear your thoughts on this.
dunno what the publisher’s thinking was. do i think the boob cover communicates the key points in the book? um, take a guess. i do love being able to tell my friends about it, though.
It conveys the message louder and clearer, perhaps. It’s nice finding this blog. Your book is excellent. One of the very best I’ve ever read.
thanks jennie!
Hope your book’s sales in Taiwan will not be as flat and show more volume.
